Sequencers are perhaps the most fundamental tool for making electronic music, but are rarely taught beyond simple technical tutorials. This workshop will explore how to use sequencers as tools for composition, sound design, and live performance.

Using a mix of Synth Library lending favorites like the Moog Mother-32 and Korg SQ-1, popular sequencer plugins from Ableton Live, and the free, open-source modular platform VCV Rack, we will explore how to use sequencers as musical instruments and tools. Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops, tablets, or phones loaded with their favorite digital audio workstation (DAW) or sequencing software to use for live exercises in the final part of the workshop.
