Learn the essentials of the Video Desk, a unique interdisciplinary resource for visual synthesis. Our video synthesis studio enables artists and makers in any media to expand their practice. No prior experience with video is required.
The Video Desk at Synth Library Portland houses many hardware and software tools, spanning analog and digital domains, up to full high definition. Any of these tools could be the subject of deep study. This workshop zooms out to the big picture.
What tools are available?
What are their essential characteristics?
How can they be connected to one another?
How do we bring external or prerecorded video and audio into the system?
What are our recording options?
This workshop complements the Intro to Video Synthesis workshop, which has a tighter focus on analog modular video. This Video Desk Overview workshop introduces all of the synths, mixers, software, and utility hardware available at the Video Desk.
Feel free to bring samples of audio or video to use during the hands-on portions of the workshop.
