How to Jam as an Electronic Musician

  • Synth Library Portland 1256 Lloyd Center Portland, OR, 97232 United States (map)

Join Ramon Mills (Production Unit Xero, founder of Heterodox Records) and Jon Nasrallah ( Casual Decay, founder of the HARDWARE event series) as they discuss improvisation and collaboration as electronic musicians.

Taking what they've learned from a year of HARDWARE collaborations and years of informal private jamming at Heterodox HQ, Jon and Ramon will discuss their influences, strategies and nitty gritty technical tips on how to jam with others as electronic musicians.

Topics discussed will include: Music Theory, MIDI and CV syncing, live arrangement, mixing and cueing, live looping and sequencing.

This class is primarily intended for solo producers looking to incorporate more collaborative or improvisational techniques into their practice. Beginners welcome, but a basic knowledge of music theory and structure will be helpful.
